We are a small family-run American company headquartered in beautiful Upstate South Carolina. Our main company goal is to produce a superior product that will operate efficiently and effectively in your firearm, every round.

Black Butterfly Ammunition was founded in 2015 by two brothers who were passionate about continuing the lost art of quality ammunition manufacturing.
The two brothers entered the market with a favorite hunting cartridge: the .458 SOCOM. This was not by mistake – it was by design. As they explained, “We started with the .458 SOCOM not because it was easy, but because it was difficult, and we wanted to do something outside the box as far as new ammo companies go…” Many industry veterans were consulted prior to getting started, including SBR Ammunition, Tromix, CMMG, Radical Firearms, Viking Armament, and several others.
Ever since, Black Butterfly has been committed to individually inspecting each round produced. We go the extra mile to inspect our products by testing random samples to shoot at a private 200-yard range. Some would call this “old school” – but Black Butterfly Ammunition calls it “well-schooled.”
Our Products
Each round produced by Black Butterfly Ammunition is hand-manufactured and individually inspected by a loading expert, to ensure that we produce the finest quality ammunition available. We conduct visual inspections and appropriate case gauge testing of each round produced. In addition, we randomly sample and shoot our production loads at our onsite range on a regular basis – this way we can ensure all of our ammunition will meet our stringent requirements and will function properly in your firearm.
